Hello from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada The residents on the Gulf Coast didn't expect it. The residents near Prince William Sound didn't expect it. Looks like Lotus Land doesn't expect it either. Stewardship should trump greed and profit BEFORE a catastrophic "dirty oil" spill happens.
Seventy million (70,000,000) gallons of "dirty oil" threaten Burrard Inlet and the Salish Sea every week. This extremely toxic cargo is bound for international markets and carried by two international supertankers "filled" at the Westridge terminal at the foot of Burnaby Mountain. Presently, nine out of ten travel to California and the other travels to Asia. Some of these are 3 times the capacity of the Exxon Valdez. International supertankers are an unwelcome, unwanted, unnecessary, uninvited and unreasonable threat to the pristine ecosystem southern coast of British Columbia. It is only a matter of time before they spill their deadly, poisonous cargo into our pristine waters teeming with wildlife! BC citizens have a future in eco tourism where everybody and everything wins. These international supertankers threaten BC's future economy and marine biolife. Why are we threatened by greed? ...So that Kinder Morgan shareholder's and CEO Richard Kinder can fatten their wallets even more. What's in it for Lotus Land? Same fate as those who have suffered from the Exxon Valdez and Gulf of Mexico spills. Let's ban international oil supertankers from Canada's coastlines for good!
Canadians in BC know that, by poll, 80% of residents don't want "dirty oil" pipelines or international supertankers threatening our pristine coastline, including Burrard Inlet, The Salish Sea, and The Strait of Yuan de Fuca.
Canadians on the south BC coast face the same fate as the people of Gulf of Mexico and Prince William Sound. Actually, we face a worse fate as these supertankers can carry a toxic payload three times the size of the Exxon Valdez spill. Additionally, this “contaminated” petroleum contains 30% “condensate” which will cause some of the oil to sink to the bottom where it will give off carcinogens, mutagens (attacks DNA) and terotogens (birth defects) for decades.
Dirty oil sinks to the bottom. Here's visual and verbal
confirmation from the Kalamazoo spill. Check this video out at the 5.25
mark.
The effect of an oil spill three times the size of the Exxon Valdez in Burrard Inlet will be deadly to the surrounding residents unless they immediately vacate the area. The sunken oil will give off toxins for years and will travel in the weather patterns to poison the surrounding soil by rain run-off. Children will be particularly affected because the toxins contained in “dirty oil” will be present in their tissues for a longer time than the adults, time enough for DNA damage and birth defects to manifest. As for a spill in Georgia Strait, it will spell the end of precious bio-life everywhere. Young salmon traveling to the ocean from the rivers will not survive the toxins. If they do they will face DNA damage and reproductive defects, in addition to passing the toxic payload up the food chain when they are eaten (sick eagles). No more fish hatcheries, no Dungeness crabs, no commercial fishing fleet, no more sports fishing, sick and dying seals and otters, sick and dying birds, oiled beaches everywhere. A large spill will reach Campbell River in a week and life around Georgia Strait will never be the same.
Kinder Morgan, a Houston based company, was not invited by Canadians (was invited by "politicians") to ship bulk oil to international markets from our southern coast. Canadians were not given a chance to vote about allowing Kinder Morgan to ship two toxic time bombs per week through our pristine waters. We Canadians want our Democracy back. The people that would be affected by a catastrophic "dirty oil" spill from supertankers being filled by Kinder Morgan's pipeline should at least have a vote on whether or not international shipments should continue.
Thanks Ta`Kaiya for making a difference!

No guarantee that the above links won't be banned soon. The truth is the enemy of the oil cartel and their "politician" puppets who place greed and money above stewardship of this planet.
